PA Xeljanz Lawsuit & Settlement Attorneys

What is Xeljanz?

Xeljanz is Pfizer’s brand name for a drug known as tofacitinib citrate. Xeljanz was approved to treat rheumatoid arthritis (“RA”) in 2012, psoriatric arthritis in 2017, and ulcerative colitis in 2018. Xeljanz is a janus kinase 1 and 3 (“JAK”) inhibitor, which blocks enzymes that can cause inflammatory reactions. Because Xeljanz inhibits the immune system in order to treat patients, it carries a disclosed risk of serious conditions due to infections or related cancers. Based upon safety concerns, Xeljanz has not been approved for sale in the European Union.

Unfortunately, the United States Federal Drug Administration (“FDA”) has found that: “[A]n increased risk of blood clots in the lungs and death when a 10 mg twice daily dose of tofacitinib (Xeljanz, Xeljanz XR) was used in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). FDA has not approved this 10 mg twice daily dose for RA; this dose is only approved in the dosing regimen for patients with ulcerative colitis.”

Do I Have a Claim? What are Xeljanz Side-Effects?

If you or a loved one have taken 10 mg of Xeljanz twice a day to treat rheumatoid arthritis (“RA”) and suffered any of the following serious injuries or side-effects:

  • Pulmonary embolism (“PE”)
  • Pulmonary thrombosis (“PT”)
  • Deep vein thrombosis (“DVT”)

You may have a potential claim for compensation against the makers of Xeljanz.

Are You Impacted by the Potential Xeljanz Lawsuits? You May Be Entitled to Compensation.

While it is still very early and a significant amount of Xeljanz lawsuits have not yet been filed, if you or a loved one have taken Xeljanz and suffered an injury, it is strongly recommended that you seek counsel with our Xeljanz attorneys, who are experienced in Xeljanz claims and injuries.

Earlier this year the FDA warned: “Patients should not stop or change your dose of tofacitinib without first talking to your health care professional, as doing so may worsen your condition. Patients taking tofacitinib should seek medical attention immediately if you experience symptoms of a blood clot in your lungs or other unusual symptoms such as:

  • Sudden shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chest pain or pain in your back
  • Coughing up blood
  • Excessive sweating
  • Clammy or bluish colored skin”

Stark & Stark attorneys are actively seeking PA Xeljanz settlements and filing Xeljanz lawsuits against drug makers on behalf of patients injured by these potentially defective drugs. If you believe you have taken Xeljanz and suffered a blood clot injury, the Xeljanz attorneys at Stark & Stark can help you assess your potential claims.
