What are Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus?
Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus are injectable GLP-1 analogues generically known as semaglutide. Semaglutide works with the hormones in your body to, among other things, control appetite. This class of drugs were originally used to treat diabetes but are now also a popular weight-loss treatment. Ozempic and Rybelsus were approved as a treatment for diabetes in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Wegovy was approved for treatment of adult obesity in 2021. All three drugs are manufactured by Novo Nordisk.
