Martin P. Schrama is a Shareholder in Stark & Stark's Commercial Litigation, Mass Tort, Intellectual Property and Green Litigation Groups. Mr. Schrama has extensive experience litigating on both the trial and appellate levels of the federal and state courts of New Jersey and New York, as well as numerous other jurisdictions throughout the nation in a pro hac vice capacity. This experience also extends to regular practice before AAA, JAMS and various other alternate dispute resolution fora.

The primary focus of Mr. Schrama’s practice is complex civil litigation matters, with a concentration in mass tort/class action prosecution and defense, and complex commercial litigation. Mr. Schrama is currently co-lead trial counsel representing numerous plaintiffs in the mass tort environmental contamination case of In Re Bristol-Myers Squibb Environmental Contamination Litigation, Case No. 281. Mr. Schrama is also currently involved in representing numerous plaintiffs in mass tort pharmaceutical cases pending in the New Jersey Superior Court case of In Re Yaz®, Yasmin®, and Ocella® Litigation, Case No. 287; In Re Nuvaring® Litigation, Case No. 284; and In Re Depuy ASR® Hip Implants Litigation, Case No. 293. Recently, Mr. Schrama served as counsel to a Fortune 500 financial corporation involved in a dispute over a detailed sale-leaseback transaction. The client was the subject of extensive claims, totaling in excess of $10 million. After several days of trial in federal court, Mr. Schrama was able to have all of the claims against his client dismissed in their entirety.

Mr. Schrama also recently served as counsel to a multinational corporation involved in the sale and construction of emissions cleansing technology. The client was the subject of extensive claims, arising from the retrofitting of a major East Coast coal-burning powerplant. Mr. Schrama successfully defended the combined claims emanating from multiple arbitration proceedings, which exceeded $50 million.

Recently, Mr. Schrama also represented a large industrial party to a solar power project. At the time, the project constituted the largest solar power installation of its kind in the United States and the twelfth largest in the world. Mr. Schrama successfully defended combined potential claims in excess of $18.5 million in state court.

In 2010, Mr. Schrama was included in the New Jersey Law Journal's list of Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 in New Jersey by the New Jersey Law Journal and in 2006, 2007 and 2008, Mr. Schrama was honored by his inclusion in the list of New Jersey Super Lawyers by New Jersey Monthly Magazine*.
