Ian S. Abovitz

Ian Abovitz is a Shareholder and member of Stark & Stark’s Accident & Personal Injury Group and a seasoned trial attorney with a primary focus on trucking litigation. He represents individuals and families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters arising from truck accidents, tractor-trailer crashes, commercial vehicle collisions, and serious car accidents. Ian handles complex cases throughout Pennsylvania and represents clients in both state and federal courts.

A recognized leader in trucking litigation, Ian regularly speaks at Pennsylvania Association for Justice seminars on issues affecting truck-accident claims and commercial-vehicle safety. His experience in this highly technical area includes investigating trucking-company practices, driver conduct, vehicle maintenance, cargo loading, and compliance with federal safety regulations. He understands that a collision involving a tractor-trailer or other commercial vehicle can involve multiple responsible parties, significant evidence, and time-sensitive investigative work. Ian is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Bucks County Bar Association, and the Philadelphia Bar Association.

Ian brings a strategic, determined approach to every case. He works to hold negligent drivers, trucking companies, and other responsible parties accountable for the harm they cause. This includes exposing corporate malfeasance and unsafe practices that put the public at risk. Whether a client has been injured in a car accident, truck accident, pedestrian accident, slip and fall, dog-bite incident, or other serious accident—or a family is pursuing a wrongful death claim—Ian is committed to pursuing the compensation and accountability his clients need to move forward.

A Pennsylvania native, Ian is deeply committed to serving his community. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Miracle League of Northampton Township, an organization that provides children and adults with special needs opportunities to participate in team sports. Ian also serves on the Executive Committee of South Kensington Community Partners, a neighborhood organization in Philadelphia. He lives in South Kensington with his wife, his dogs Alfie and Arya, and his cats.

Before joining Stark & Stark, Ian worked as an attorney at a defense-side personal injury law firm in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. This experience provides him with valuable insight into how insurance companies and defense counsel evaluate and litigate injury claims. Ian also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Timothy Savage of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
