    David M. Schmid

    Shareholder

David Schmid is an expert Civil Trial Attorney as certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He is a shareholder in the firm’s Accident & Personal Injury practice where he leads a team of five lawyers.

Dave devotes his practice entirely to fighting for everyday people who suffer personal injuries of all types. Dave is a highly accomplished trial attorney and has won many multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients. His clients range from people suffering injuries in car crashes and falls to people catastrophically injured in construction accidents. He has a special interest in representing construction accident and burn survivors and their families. Dave is a leader in Stark & Stark’s construction accident and burn injury litigation groups.

Dave serves on the board of directors for the nonprofit, Burn Prevention Network, where he works to spread burn prevention education. For years, he served as a volunteer camp counselor at the Camp Susquehanna burn camp for children who suffered serious burn injuries. Through his involvement with the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors project, “Team Phoenix,” Dave has helped raise funds for burn survivors. In addition, he has lectured nationally on the topic of catastrophic burn injury litigation. He also obtained an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour outreach training certificate for the construction industry with an additional certificate for completing more focused training on OSHA Fire Detection and Protection standards.

Dave takes on cases with the goal of bringing meaningful change to the people involved and changing behavior at a societal level.

“Every day I am fighting for the people in my community. These are good, hardworking people who never wanted to get hurt and certainly never wanted to have to call a lawyer. Whether they’re injured in a car crash or a construction accident, my clients are regular people who find themselves up against greedy and powerful insurance companies and corporations. They rely on me to level the playing field, and I’m honored to fight and win for them.”

Dave began his career as an attorney for the insurance defense industry, where he gained valuable insights into how insurance companies and corporations defend personal injury claims in an effort to deny and minimize human suffering after an accident. He uses that knowledge and experience every day against the powerful and profit-driven insurance defense industry to achieve the results his clients expect from him.

Dave was born and raised in Woodbury, New Jersey and truly loves the Garden State. After graduating from Rutgers Law School, he married a Jersey girl, and they started a family. Dave and his family love sports, and he is a volunteer basketball coach for his son. When they’re not playing basketball or tennis, they’re routing for their favorite Philly sports teams. They also love spending time at the Jersey Shore. Dave is an avid fisherman and is passionate about the management and conservation of marine, estuarine, and cold water fisheries. He is a member of the Shark River Surf Anglers, Trout Unlimited, and the American Littoral Society on Sandy Hook, New Jersey.

Dave also serves as a leader of associations dedicated to preserving his clients’ legal rights and access to the courts. For years he served on the Board of Governors of the New Jersey Association for Justice (NJAJ) where he co-chaired the Public Relations Committee and Law Student Relations Committee. He has co-authored numerous amicus briefs on behalf of NJAJ. In addition, Dave is a member of The National Trial Lawyers, the American Association for Justice and the Mercer County Bar Association.
