  • Talc, or talcum powder, is a mineral compound used by Johnson and Johnson in its products, including Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower to Shower. Plaintiffs in numerous pending lawsuits have alleged that the regular application by females of talcum powder to their genitals over time has been linked to certain forms of ovarian cancer.

Are You Impacted by the Talcum Powder Lawsuit? You May Be Entitled to Compensation.

If you or a loved one have applied a Johnson and Johnson talcum powder product regularly in this manner, over several years, and been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, it is strongly recommended that you seek counsel experienced in the talc claims and injuries.

Stark & Stark attorneys are actively seeking talcum powder settlements and filing talc lawsuits for those injured or killed from the potentially harmful product.

What is Talc Powder, and Are There Talcum Powder Lawsuits?

Talc is a naturally occurring mineral compound that usually includes magnesium, silicon, and traces of other minerals and compounds. Talc is mined and milled into a powder, which is used in feminine hygiene products to control moisture and odor. Johnson and Johnson uses talc in its popular products, including Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower to Shower. Plaintiffs in numerous pending lawsuits have cited to studies showing that, over time, talc can be absorbed through the reproductive system to the ovaries, causing inflammation and, eventually, ovarian cancer.

Plaintiffs further allege that Johnson and Johnson knew of this link between talc and ovarian cancer for decades, and the resulting danger to the public, but failed to properly warn potential users. Recently, in 2016, there were trials in the City of St. Louis Circuit Court, Missouri, involving these claims. There, Plaintiffs won respective jury awards of $70 million, $55 million, and $72 million (please note these cases were not handled by Stark & Stark).

Accordingly, additional lawsuits have been filed against Johnson and Johnson. Many of these claims have been consolidated into a Multi-District Litigation (MDL), which centralizes pretrial activities for multiple cases to save time, court costs, and attorney’s fees. These cases are pending before the Honorable Freda L. Wolfson, in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
