Stark & Stark Joins Growing Coalition of Law Firms in Defense of Constitutional Principles and the Independence of the Legal Profession

Stark & Stark has joined hundreds of fellow law firms across the country in filing an amicus brief supporting Perkins Coie, WilmerHale, Jenner & Block, and Susman Godfrey in their ongoing challenge to executive orders issued by the Trump administration.

The firm stands with more than 800 other law firms, partners, corporate legal leaders, and law students who submitted friend-of-the-court briefs to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. These briefs urge the court to uphold rulings that struck down the executive orders, which targeted the firms for their prior legal work and diversity policies.

The executive orders accused the targeted firms of “weaponizing” the legal system and sought to restrict their lawyers’ access to federal buildings while directing agencies to terminate government contracts with their clients. District courts previously found these directives violated core constitutional protections, including free speech and due process.

Stark & Stark’s participation reflects its continued commitment to the rule of law and the fundamental principle that lawyers must be free to represent clients without fear of governmental retaliation. This stance aligns with the broader legal community’s response, as seen in earlier amicus efforts involving more than 500 firms.
