Taxotere (commonly known as docetaxel) is a chemotherapy drug made by Sanofi-Aventis. Plaintiffs in numerous pending Taxotere lawsuits have alleged that Taxotere has been linked to permanent hair loss (permanent alopecia).
If you or a loved one have used the brand-name Taxotere chemotherapy product and suffered permanent or long-term hair loss, it is strongly recommended that you seek counsel experienced in the Taxotere claims and injuries.
Stark & Stark attorneys are actively seeking Taxotere settlements and filing Taxotere lawsuits for those who have suffered permanent or long-term hair loss from the potentially harmful product.
Taxotere is a plant alkaloid chemotherapy drug derived from the yew tree. Approved for use in 1996, it works by disrupting the microtubular networks in cancer cells. Taxotere is used intravenously in patients with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer (after failure of prior chemotherapy) and in combination with doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide in patients with operable node-positive breast cancer.
Plaintiffs in numerous pending lawsuits have cited to studies showing that Taxotere was no more effective than other chemotherapy drugs that did not have the same side-effect of a substantial risk of permanent hair loss. Plaintiffs further allege that Sanofi-Aventis knew of this link between Taxotere and permanent hair loss, but failed to properly warn potential users.
Accordingly, numerous lawsuits from across the nation have been filed against Sanofi-Aventis. Many of these claims have been consolidated into a Multi-District Litigation (MDL), which centralizes pretrial activities for multiple cases to save time, court costs, and attorney’s fees. These cases are pending before the Honorable Kurt D. Engelhardt, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
