Michael Brusca is a Shareholder with Stark & Stark’s Nursing Home Litigation Group. Mr. Brusca dedicates his entire practice to representing vulnerable individuals and their families in wrongful death, catastrophic injury, negligence and abuse claims arising in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, psychiatric facilities, hospitals, boarding and group homes.
A trial attorney by background, Mr. Brusca was lead counsel for the Estate of Mary Dwyer v. Harborview, et al., a 7-week trial that resulted in a $13.2 million verdict – the largest nursing home verdict in New Jersey.
He is a frequent lecturer to lay organizations and fellow attorneys at the state and national level on topics such as facility selection, resident care, litigation, trial practice, and technology issues. He has also authored several articles, including in the national magazine Trial.
Prior to joining Stark & Stark, Mr. Brusca served as a Judge Advocate in United States Air Force stationed at Langley AFB in Virginia, Al Udeid AB in Doha, Qatar, and Misawa AB in Misawa, Japan. During his time with the Air Force, Mr. Brusca tried numerous cases to verdict as both prosecutor and defense counsel in the United States, the Middle East and throughout the Pacific. Mr. Brusca also served as Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, Chief of the Tort Claims division for Langley AFB, and as counsel to a base hospital.
