Jonathan H. Katz is a member of Stark & Stark’s Community Associations Group where he advises condominium associations, cooperatives and homeowners associations on matters including the drafting and negotiation of service contracts, the creation and enforcement of rules and regulations and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), transition negotiation with developers, construction defect litigation, fair housing compliance, collections, municipal services agreements, and necessary litigation-related services. Mr. Katz successfully argued that a condominium need not provide dispute resolution prior to instituting an action for injunctive relief in certain compelling circumstances, which resulted in a reported Appellate Division decision – Finderne Heights Condominium. Ass’n, Inc. v. Rabinowitz, 390 N.J. Super. 154 (App. Div. 2007).

Prior to joining Stark & Stark, Mr. Katz was associated with a firm in Hamilton Township where he concentrated on civil litigation and served as the Township’s Municipal Public Defender.  Mr. Katz also served as the law clerk for the Honorable Philip S. Carchman, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, and the Honorable Neil H. Shuster, Superior Court, Chancery Division - General Equity Part, Mercer County.

Mr. Katz is a member of the New Jersey and Pennsylvania/Delaware Valley Chapters of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and he has authored several articles that have appeared in CAI publications as well as the Community Associations Network (CAN) newsletter. Mr. Katz also serves on the St. Francis Community Fund Raising Board. In addition, Mr. Katz has significant practical experience with community associations, as he currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors of his homeowners association.
